No false solution, revolution, revolution!
Demonstration towards Bella Centre Blocked by the Copenhagen Police
by Ahmed Swapan
It
was not only heavily snowing, the weather was also cold and windy in
Copenhagen. But the warmth of Reclaiming People’s Power lead a few
thousands activists from around the world to gather in different blocks
and rallied towards Bella Centre where the world leaders are making
mock climate negotiations in CoP-15.
The activists gathered and rallied and raised slogans claiming climate justice, democracy and people’s sovereign power ending up the false solution by the leaders of the rich countries.
It was warmth of hearts of creative and imaginative leaders and activists from the South and the North demanding justice surrounded by hundreds of polices. Police was asked to take aside from the demonstration but police came into brutal action on the activists. Is this a democratic regime where people’s voices are not heard and considered at all? While people’s are blocked, beaten and tear-gassed, arrested and abused, how can then we keep trust on them? Unjustified! Intolerance to democracy! It’s no wonder to resemble Danish state’s police action with police state seeing all brutalities, inhuman and undemocratic behaviour by the state agents.
The gathered us around, the groups were separated but standing even, chains were split but slogans were winding around. Some were forced to be out from the chains, some looked for safe away, but police. Everywhere one turned into, police and police around!
I was also separated from our delegates from the Jubilee South chain, I was looking for them around! But suddenly I got a push, police pushed me and I got to escape from the brutal hands and stood aside. One Danish television media took a quick interview and later another EngageMedia. The police actions would be covered by media, yet demands of people for justice would remain so far! Only system change can reflect the vision and imagination of people and ensure justice.
No reason but police pushed, beat, arrested many. Yet, no way! Thousands of activists were standing, shouting, demanding justice and calling for people’s sovereign power to end up the capitalistic system, however, police were still in action against friends, activists, and comrades.
No way! So, slogans were winded around `no false solution, revolution, revolution!’
