This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, leadership, and courage of women everywhere—especially the women in activist movements who continue to work tirelessly for safe spaces, equal opportunities, quality education, economic independence, and leadership in their communities. Their work continues to move forward the call for rights, justice, and meaningful action for all women and girls.

As part of this year’s celebration, NGO Forum on ADB is highlighting the campaign “One Word, Stronger World.” The initiative recognizes that sometimes a single word can capture powerful ideas and reflect the values that guide the ongoing struggle for gender equality and social justice.

Through this campaign, women from the Forum network and allied organizations shared one powerful word that represents what they believe is essential in advancing women’s rights and development advocacy. Each word is accompanied by a short reflection explaining why it matters in their work and communities.

The idea behind choosing one word is simple but meaningful. A single word can carry deep meaning and represent a vision for change. Words such as Justice, Solidarity, Equality, Monumental, , Equity, Transparency, Cultivate, Capable, and Leadership reflect the principles that women continue to fight for and embody in their everyday advocacy.

When these words are brought together, they form a collective message of solidarity, resilience, and action. Each contribution reflects the voices and perspectives of women working across different communities and movements, reminding us that every voice plays a role in building a more just and inclusive society.

This International Women’s Day, we honor the women whose dedication
and advocacy continue to inspire change and strengthen movements for
rights, justice, and action for all women and girls.
