An appeal for solidarity with communities affected by the disaster in Nepal
NGO Forum on ADB is calling on our partners, network members, allies, institutions, and friends across the region and around the world to stand in solidarity with communities affected by the deadly disaster in Nepal.
Families are mourning loved ones, searching for those still missing, and confronting the loss of homes, livelihoods, essential belongings, and access to basic services. Communities now face the difficult and urgent task of recovery while continuing to live with the impacts of a worsening climate crisis.
At this critical moment, affected communities need support that responds directly to their immediate needs and strengthens their ability to recover with dignity.
In response, Forum is activating its Community Emergency Fund to mobilize emergency assistance through our partners and networks in Nepal.
Communities need support now.
The disaster unfolding in Nepal is another stark reminder that communities across Asia are increasingly bearing the disproportionate impacts of the climate crisis.
Those who have contributed the least to global emissions are often left facing the heaviest losses—from destroyed homes and livelihoods to displacement, food insecurity, disrupted services, and the long-term costs of rebuilding.
While the Forum continues to call for accountability, climate justice, and a recovery that does not push communities further into debt, people affected by the disaster also need immediate material support.
Relief cannot wait for longer-term policy and accountability processes.
What your contribution can support
Funds raised through the Community Emergency Fund (CEF) will be coordinated with local partners and affected communities in Nepal and directed toward urgent, community-identified needs, which may include:

food and safe drinking water;

medicines and essential healthcare needs;

temporary shelter and basic household materials;

transportation and emergency assistance;
-
support for families who have lost homes and livelihoods; and
-
other priority needs identified by affected communities themselves.
Where possible, support will be directed in a way that minimizes unnecessary administrative and transfer costs and ensures that resources reach communities as directly as possible.
